Enhancing and expanding the core Havenly experience and iOS app, with a focus on thoughtfully crafted flows, intuitive UX, and overall cohesion.

Background

As a Product Designer at Havenly, I helped shape the design and development of their paid core experience and iOS app. Havenly has revolutionized the interior design industry with an online platform that allows customers to collaborate with professional designers from anywhere at any time. This robust core experience lets clients gather inspiration, interact with designers, evaluate mockups, and view products.

The complexity of these offerings necessitated continuous improvements to enhance usability and streamline interactions, which I implemented across both web and iOS platforms. Additionally, transitioning Havenly to mobile was crucial to meet growing demand, presenting a challenge to preserve the brand’s essence while optimizing for iOS. I, along with my team, crafted this seamless mobile experience, focusing on user-friendly design and operational quality.

Challenge

Havenly's paid core experience encompasses numerous elements such as scheduling, communication, visual design, and iterative processes, all which required extensive collaboration between designers and clients. Balancing these elements within both the iOS and online platforms, while maintaining usability, posed a significant challenge. As a Product Designer, I developed Havenly's core experience ecosystem, dashboard, and key features like the Kickoff Call scheduling flow.

Overview

Given the breadth of Havenly's core experience and the extensive functionality within the user dashboard, this case study will concentrate on the "kickoff call" scheduling flow. This feature was developed to enhance the design process by setting clear expectations between clients and designers right from the start. Moving away from initial reliance on brief questionnaires, this direct virtual meeting aims to minimize miscommunications and ineffective designs by addressing client needs early on. I designed this task flow to be intuitive, user-friendly, and seamless.

Scheduling flow

While building these task flows, I prioritized elements that would seamlessly guide users through scheduling their call while maintaining clarity and ease of use.

Process

In refining the scheduling process, our team analyzed existing project flows and found key areas for improvement in designer-client interactions. This effort led to a redesign where initial meetings now focus on aligning goals from the start, based on detailed feedback and observed interaction patterns.

While building these task flows, I prioritized elements that would seamlessly guide users through scheduling their call while maintaining clarity and ease of use. These included a compelling call-to-action screen, an intuitive calendar for booking, and a clear confirmation page with rescheduling options—ensuring that the kickoff call was prominently displayed and easily managed within the client’s dashboard. I also designed a consistent rescheduling flow and prepared for scenarios like call cancellations or designer unavailability, creating smooth, intuitive paths for appointment management. Based on iterative testing, I adjusted visual elements and text to enhance clarity and user experience, ultimately integrating these features seamlessly into the Havenly platform.

Rescheduling and canceling flow

Indicators such as improved user satisfaction, streamlined communication, and less design revisions, serve as valuable validations of its efficacy.

Implementation

In the final implementation of the scheduling feature, I focused on a user-centric solution that integrated smoothly into the Havenly platform. User feedback indicated a notable improvement in satisfaction, with many expressing appreciation for the simplified scheduling process. Enhanced communication between clients and designers led to smoother collaborations and fewer revisions, leading to more efficient project timelines. These qualitative insights underscore the success of the scheduling feature in enhancing the Havenly user experience.

iOS Screens

Another aspect of my work involved the development and enhancement of Havenly’s iOS app, which is integral to their core experience. Collaborating with a talented team of designers, we aimed to seamlessly transition Havenly's core functionalities onto the mobile platform while maintaining its signature accessibility and convenience. Our process involved careful attention to user flow, from the initial sign-in screens to the project dashboard, and Havenly’s e-commerce platform. The integration of features like the style quiz, designer selection, and package options required careful iteration to ensure a cohesive and engaging user journey.

Additionally, we navigated a complete brand refresh, adjusting type sizes, color palette, and spacing amidst the complex and robust core experience of Havenly. This necessitated extensive collaboration on visual design, communication, and scheduling, ensuring the app remained intuitive while still being comprehensive.

Through iterative design and user feedback, we implemented enhancements that elevated the app's usability and visual appeal, resulting in a successful and well-reviewed product that met the evolving needs of Havenly's growing user base.

My primary goal has been to craft user-friendly experiences that go beyond aesthetics to meet users’ needs through creative solutions.
